The social workers at Right Response provide clinical supervision and coaching to graduate level social workers and masters level student interns who are conducting counseling and skills work in schools, clinics or the community. Supervisees will be challenged to examine the system influence on themselves and their clients, and pushed to understand their own lens as they practice.

“I was in need of supervision hours as I worked toward my LICSW. I was able to participate in group supervision through Right Response. A unique aspect of group that I appreciated was that it began with several minutes of mindfulness. I have never had that in any other supervision setting. I liked that it encouraged us to put into practice what we want our clients to do. It was a supportive environment that encouraged thoughtful discussion. I was able to bring difficult cases for consultation and build my clinical skills.  I liked that if I was not ready to talk about an issue yet or didn't have anything to discuss that I could just listen and provide support to others and there was no pressure to share.”

“I have had such an enriching time with both Kestrel and Shelly this past academic school year while interning.  I have felt safe, and heard, which has allowed me to gain skills and knowledge of my own personal practice.  There has been so much space for self-reflection on my privilege and whiteness.  Supervision has provided me clinical framework and opened conversations that challenge me to perceive situations in a non-biased way, learning to step back and learn from the client rather than assume.”

“Everyone on this team has a good wealth of knowledge.  Shelly has been able to support me as a grad school intern through asking more nuanced questions than I had as a young learner in the field, and that I have now as a more experienced clinician.  She has a wealth of knowledge in many different areas and knows how to look at the bigger picture.  The same is true of consulting with the team--each person brings slightly different skills, based on their individual training in different ages and/or modalities and their experiences.  And perhaps most importantly, all are open, kind, supportive people that are willing to look at each kid’s needs and brainstorm what would be helpful for both the child and for the needs of the clinician in their role as a support person.”
